Mackerel is the bait fish which we all need to catch for a good days fishing. Found all around the coast of the United Kingdom, but in particular in the waters of the South West of the English Channel during the winter months.

Once a schoal is located it is usually not a problem to catch a good box full for a days bottom fishing.

If you have the facilities on board your vessel, a sea water circulating bait well, is an excellent method of keeping “joey” sized mackerel alive for use as live bait. Nothing beats live bait! and they are lethal for most species, especially Bass.
